The Klein Memorial Stadium was jam packed on Klein oak's homecoming night with their game against the Klein Bearkasts. The Panthers were looking to rebound after suffering losses in their last four games. The match ups were great and the game well in reach but he Panthers fell short losing to Klein 43-57.
Klein Oak took possession to open the game and just like they have done previously, moved the ball and scored on their opening drive taking the early lead. The game was back and forth with the score tied 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. Oak scored on their opening possession of the 2nd quarter to take the lead at 21-14. Unfortunately, Klein held the ball for almost the next 8 minutes on three straight possessions, scoring all three times to take the lead 21-35 as the Oak return game was plagued with a couple of errors. The Panthers were not able to handle the traditional on-side kick and then a very short kick from the Klein Bearkats on back to back possessions. However, Oak capitalized on their next possession with a ver much needed TD to keep this game within striking distance going into halftime. After the touchdown, Klein was called for roughing the kicker on a misssed extra point but Oak was able to punch it in for a 2-pt conversion and go into the half down on 29-35.
Klein Started the second half only up by a touchdown but their strong running game put them in the end zone and with a succesful 2-pt conversion, The Bearkats were up 29-43. Oak stormed back with some great running of their own and scored to bring them back to within a touchdown making it 35-43 on a missed 2-pt conversion. Oak's defense held Klein but a penatlty on the punt put Oak starting deep in their own territory. The Panthers could not get any offense going and was forced to punt on a 3 and out. Klein was able to increase their lead to 35-50 with a a touchdown on their following possession. Oak started a great drive at the end of the 3rd quarter and started the 4th by ending that drive with a touchdown and 2-pt conversion to cut into the lead, 43-50. Unfortunately that would be Oak's last score of the game. Klein was able to handle Oak's on-side kick and followed that up with their final score of the game with over 8 minutes left. The Panthers had some chances after holdding Klein to only 1score in the fourth quarter but with 3 failed 4th down tries, Oak just could not bring this one back into the win column losting to Klein with a final score of 43-57.
Oak nation will be out once again to cheer the Panthers on as they take on Atascocita this Saturdayat 2 O'Clock at Turner Stadiun in Humble.
