With both Dekaney and Oak scoring on their opening drives, the crowd was ready to settle in for another high scoring bonanza but with five turnovers in the first half alone, Oak could not keep up with Dekaney, Multiple turnovers and inexperience on defense cost the Panthers another loss.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon but the game started to slip away early for the Panthers. As soon as it seemed the offense could get something going with some great kickoff returns by Eugene Estes, the turnover bug struck and Klein Oak could just not get any momentum built up. Zach Wallace came in at the end of the second Quarter and supplied a bit of a spark as the Panthers were able to move the ball and score with just over a minute to play until half. Unfortunately, Dekaney was able to end the half on a high note with a 3-play touchdown drive that sent the Panthers into the locker room at halftime down 14-42.
The Panther defense came out in the second half and held Dekaney on their first two possessions but the Oak Offense coulnd not quite get enough going to cut into Dekaney's lead Klein Oak suffered an interception, fumble and two failed 4th down attempts and could not put up any more points in the second half. Although Dekaney did not score in the third quarter, with a solid running game, they managed to put up three touchdowns in the fouth quarter to win 14-63.
The Klein Oak Faithful will be out in full force Friday night to support and help cheer on our Panthers as they fight back hard taking on Klein Collins at Klein Memorial Stadium at 7pm.
